Through the Window

I am away and through the window,
Feel the sun upon my face,
Feel the way the whispering winds blow,
In this quiet, gentle place.

Pass away the days that follow,
Pass away the days that stay,
Know the way the waters will flow,
Be forever, comes what may.

Mark the pathways with your spirit,
Paint the walls you're safe inside,
Light your way with love, don't fear it,
Embrace your heart, don't let it hide.

Waste away the listless mornings,
Treasure every afternoon,
Listen when your heart tells warnings,
Happiness is coming soon.

I am away and through tomorrow,
I am away and past today,
I'll follow where the whispering winds blow,
Forever there my heart will stay.

Ages

I cannot for the life of me,
Believe so indisputably,
With such profound stupidity,

That I've forgot my age.

Content in my complacency,
removed from the depravity,
of mental incapacity,

That I'd forget my age.

When time escapes so wistfully,
Contrived our selves our folly,
An ignorance so blissfully,
Laments to melancholy.

An edging movement forward jerks awake the sleeping mind,
Adrift upon the open seas of ever flowing time,
And what for all the wasted years, that pass the turning page,

I cant believe for all my life,

That I've forgot my age.

The Long Night

When we are lost in the darkness of the night,

Alone with our footsteps, a world out of sight,

When nothing worth wanting remains in our heart,

Rewarded by love, that would tear you apart.

Not happiness, or purpose, nor loves lasting gleam,

without hesitation, upon sights unseen,

May be purchased, invested or frivolously bought,

When the outcomes so seldom that which was sought.

Don't remain ever waking, or lost in ones dream,

For nothing forsaken remains as it seems.

Relentlessly forward, we remember the past,

As we question why brighter days so infrequently last.

So why then do the winds change, when what's sought has been found?

Why does what was sturdy find tomorrow unsound?

When so much uncertainty exacts such a toll,

The toiling and turmoil will tear at ones soul.

Steadfast to the glimmer of mornings first light,

The halo of warmth as the world comes to sight.

Do not falter now, but with patience move on,

As the darker the night grows, draws you closer to dawn.

ALL THAT YOU CAN BE

13

You’ll never know what you could be,
Until you take a chance and see,
Find a way and make it yours,
Open up tomorrows doors.

Find a way to take a chance,
Find the time to find romance,
Find the strength to build a home,
Treasure all you come to own.

Life will lead you many ways,
The darkest nights and brightest days,
Pathways wander all around,
Backwards, forwards, up and down.

And every action so they say,
That falls on us along our way,
Prepares us for the choice we cast,
Each moment building on the last.

So find the time to find your way,
Treasure every passing day,
And every chance that you should take,
And every action that you make,
Don’t be scared of moving on,
Sometimes we must move along,
The changes coming you will see,
Will make you all that you can be.

Infinite Infinity Finally Found!

Several years back, four or five at least, I happened one day to stumble across a short video on Google Video, that ended up leaving a very profound impression on me.  It was then titled: “Human Ignorance”  and consisted of a slow spoken poem set against a recording of Pachelbel’s Canon in D major, in accompaniment to a video montage. The poem, the music and the imagery all wove together in an eerily beautiful way.

For a long time, I would go back and watch it again.  For me, the somber words were so fitting, summing up the disaster that has become our western culture, and the failings our society breeds.  Again and again I’d return until I knew the poem through and through.  But then one day I went to watch it only to find that it had gone!  I searched and searched for some time!  But nothing, no trace or even reference to it could I find.

It was gone, erased from the internet, as if it had never existed at all.  It was in February, 2012 that I wrote about this video, and this poem, right here in this very blog.  I even wrote out the poem and described the video as best I could in the hopes that someone else out there in the world might see it and know what I was talking about.  Perhaps they might know who wrote it, or who might have made the video, or some reclusive video sharing sight I had never heard of where it could be found.  But nothing would ever come of it.

Years went on, and while I still found myself searching for it occasionally, I pretty much gave up on ever seeing it again.  I took solace in knowing that if nothing else, at least I had posted a copy of the poem’s lyrics online, so that it might in that way at least live on.

However, it would seem that after all this time, somehow, the video, in all of its elusive and mysterious being has resurrected; as tonight, not more than ten minuets ago, I again stumbled across it, this time on You Tube, very much as I had the first time.  Needless to say I was more than a little surprised.  Posted back in March of this year, it remains as much a mystery as it ever has, and I feel I need to share it, if nothing else to prove to myself that it is in fact real and not some bizarre misunderstood dream manifested as a false memory.

Thank you to Oicub2 for posting it on You Tube!

Local Lighthouse

A piece I’m currently working on. This is the Magnetawan lighthouse, built a century ago during the river boat era of the early 1900’s. It marked the entrance to the locks in the Village of Magnetawan, Ontario, along the Magnetawan River’s 40 mile waterway. The original lighthouse was lost decades ago, however, in 1995 this replica was commissioned by the Magnetawan river Heritage Association, and sits on the original site.

BEFORE YOU KNOW IT

may9th 2013 016 - Copy

I’d wondered,
Where I’d got to,
Left lonesome,
And alone.

A troubled journey,
Some time to get here,
My tribulations,
I’m sure have shown.

I never wanted,
To be so busy,
But to be idle,
Takes a toll.

The years pass faster,
The days draw shorter,
Before you know it,
You’re getting old.

Don’t worry too much,
You’re still in motion,
The Earth revolving,
Time moving on.

Don’t wait forever,
For what’s worth doing,
Before you know it,
You’ll be gone.
